Te Korowai o Ngāruahine Trust offers several scholarships and grants to assist uri with their education and training aspirations.
The scholarships and grants support our uri to attain higher/further education and training, to enhance positive outcomes for uri, whānau, hapū and iwi.

SCHOLARSHIPS
He iti taku iti Ngāruahine Iwi Education Scholarships
APPLY NOWDescription:
A one-year scholarship for uri studying full-time courses at a recognised tertiary institution in Aotearoa
Value:
2 x Postgrad $3,000 each
4 x Undergrad $1,500 each
Criteria:
- Studying full time
- Provide proof of enrolment and fees
- Studying at a recognised tertiary institution in Aotearoa
- Be a NZ citizen of permanent resident
- Provide a written statement that explains how they have or how they will contribute to their hapū, marae and whānau development during and on completion of their course study
- Programme of study and career aspirations must contribute to the objectives of Te Korowai
- Must submit an essay to support their application
*Unsuccessful scholarship applicants will be automatically considered for He Iti Taku Iti Grants

He Hua Ōwhiti Taiao Scholarship
APPLY NOWDescription:
A one-year scholarship to support students undertaking Environmental Studies.
Value:
5 x $1,500 scholarships
Criteria:
- Studying full time
- Provide proof of enrolment and fees
- Studying at a recognised tertiary institution in Aotearoa
- Be a NZ citizen of permanent resident
- Provide a written statement that explains how they have or how they will con-tribute to their hapū, marae and whānau development during and on completion of their course study
- Programme of study and career aspirations must contribute to the objectives of Te Korowai
- Must submit an essay to support their application
- Must be majoring in a Taiao related course of study e.g. Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Māori Resource Management
*Unsuccessful scholarship applicants will automatically be considered for He Iti Taku Iti Grant

GRANTS
He Hua Ōwhiti Kura Grant (previously He Ōwhiti Kura Hākinakina and Ahurea Grant)
APPLY NOWDescription
To assist rangatahi to remove barriers that prevent them from fully taking part in extracurricular activities that build confidence, connection, and wellbeing. This grant helps ensure that every rangatahi has the chance to develop their potential — physically, mentally, and culturally.
Value
$ amount varies (up to $250)
Criteria
- Applicants must be under 18 years old
- Provide proof of being a current member of a school or community club in Aotearoa
- Provide proof of related expenses
- Applicant must show how the activity contributes to their personal development, wellbeing and cultural growth.
- Must demonstrate how the grant will be used to support the endeavour and how it will assist future aspirations
- Provide a written statement that explains how they have or how they will contribute to their hapū, marae and whānau development
- Individuals only
* Can only apply once per year
* Grants will not be paid retrospectively

Tuku Aupiki
APPLY NOWDescription:
A one-year grant to assist with non-funded short courses, conferences, wānanga and online courses
Value:
$ amount varies (up to $500)
Criteria:
- Applicants must be 16 years and over
- Provide proof of enrolment and fees/costs
- Studying in Aotearoa
- Be a NZ citizen of permanent resident
- Must demonstrate how the grant will be used to support the endeavour and how it will assist future aspirations
- Provide a written statement that explains how they have or how they will contribute to their hapū, marae and whānau development during and on completion of their course study
- Programme of study and career aspirations must contribute to the objectives of Te Korowai
*Applicants may only apply once per year

Hinehou me Punahau Grant (Sponsored by Aronga Ltd)

This is a one-year grant to support mothers in training
Value:
2 x grants $1,500 each
Criteria:
- Studying full-time or part time
- Studying a course at a recognised tertiary institution in Aotearoa
- Be a NZ citizen of permanent resident
- Provide a written statement that explains how they have or how they will contribute to their hapū, marae and whānau development during and on completion of their course study
Preference is given to:
- A māmā who is returning to work after/while raising her tamariki.
- A māmā studying Toi, Teaching of Te Reo Māori

- Programme of study and career aspirations contribute to the objectives of Te Korowai
*Applicants studying part-time will only be eligible for a partial grant
