A rare opportunity has arisen within Te Kīwai Mauī o Ngāruahine, the commercial arm of Te Korowai o Ngāruahine Trust, for a Director on the Board. We are looking for an experienced Director to support the implementation of the Board’s strategies and the ongoing growth of settlement assets for the benefit of Ngāruahine Iwi.

Te Kīwai Mauī o Ngāruahine administers a large asset portfolio and is also responsible for the iwi fisheries quota. In 2023, Te Korowai approved Pupuke te Hihiri, impact investment strategy. Te Kīwai Mauī o Ngāruahine is the responsible Group entity for the implementation of this strategy, which ensures a principled transition into impact investments in our rohe over the next five years.
Te Tūnga | The position
Te Kīwai Mauī o Ngāruahine Board is made up of two trustees from the parent Trust and three independent directors. Directors are required to comply with the duties outlined in the Companies Act and Group policies.
We welcome applicants with a high-level of critical thinking, as well as:
- A high level of governance experience
- Proven experience developing and executing strategic investment policies and objectives (SIPO)
- Exceptional commercial and financial acumen, particularly in direct investments
- Passion and understanding of tikanga Māori and intergenerational wellbeing
- Governance or executive level experience in impact investments or tourism would be an advantage
